We have our winners! A big thanks goes out to everyone who registered for
the contest. The winners are below:
Winner #1: Dan Mahoney
Dan becomes our first winner with his sad sob story about how his TNT2 got
replaced with an ATI. Poor guy, we couldn't help but hook this guy up. Read
his story below and see an example image from his current gameplay :-)
Well, I was planning on coming up with a really creative way
to win this contest but then school came around, and homework so I'll forget
all the creativity and just show you how sad I really am. It all started last
spring. My sister was planning to go off to college and my dad wanted to get
the replacement computer soon so that I wouldn't be playing games on his computer
when he had to do work. I managed to talk him up to getting a PIII 600 from
the AMD K6 II 500 he wanted to get. Then finally I got him to spend an extra
50-100 dollars to get the computer with the actual AGP slot, with a TNT2 card,
instead of an integrated "agp" 3d accelerator. This was all good but when
I got my computer there was a problem. The video card had something wrong
with it. It was causing most games to crash and I would have to reboot every
few minutes. I called up tech support to complain, and the guy (after spending
15 minutes trying to find out if the TNT2 card supported "hardware acceleration"
to which he got no answer) eventually agreed to send a replacement part. Problem
was is he somehow decided it was my RAM that was the problem. The guys came
to my house they put the RAM in and it didn't fix it. When they called to
report, the tech support people automatically sent a new motherboard. I told
the guys that I thought it was my video card so when they came to put in the
motherboard, they tested it out with one of their own video cards. The motherboard
didn't help, but they tested their video card and everything worked fine.
The called in to order up the video card and the next day they came to put
it is... only problem, they came to replace it with and 8mb ATI RAGE card.
I wasn't happy, but after all my experiences with tech support, I wasn't about
to complain more. This card has had unusually bad performance, and to make
things worse, I just bought Covert Ops and it won't even run the Training
CD!!!
Winner #2: John Khalil
Our second winner is John Khalil who humored us the most with his reasoning
behind why he needed a new video card. Check out the evidence he provided.
Winner #3: David Burt
While there weren't many entries for contest two, Reynolds-Wrap had the best
use of the 3d-R logo. Nice job.
Winner #4: SamTheMan
Unfortunately SamTheMan wins by default because he was the ONLY other person
to submit an image with a "creative" use of the 3d-R logo. Just
think of how you guys missed an easy chance to get some free stuff. Shucks
:-)
