| 07/12/2003 - New Pictures & Explanation |
I just got
four new images of the house. Remember I have not seen what the house
looks like since I left Melilla Spain back in May. It’s a huge difference
to see what has taken place since the last time I’ve seen it. Now
I just need to get back with Manuel so I can get MORE images, and past
images that I have missed. |
| 06/13/2003 - I'm Home |
I just got
home.... U.S Customs took my cubans and now I'm pissed off!!! Those bastards! |
| 06/13/2003 - I'm Coming Home!! |
As Ron and I climbed into the two turbo prop airplane I began to think of all the people I meet and the new experiences I had as we embark on our way home. The flight from Melilla to Madrid was a flight that had left tears in my eyes. It was sad to leave home; a place that I’ve lived for 6 weeks making new friends, and meeting new people. The tears on that flight were not only of sadness, but of happiness to be on my way home. We arrived in Madrid around 7:30pm we started looking for the bus which would take us to our hotel (Diana Galeon). After standing in one spot for about 20min waiting for our bus, we finally asked a local airport cop as to where we should be waiting. He told us to go to information both as his English was poor. After the information desk told us that we needed to go to terminal 5, we started walking…. So after walking a bit, we got to a location which was full of more taxis, and bus’s to other hotel’s. We waited and waited and waited…. We saw a bus that said “Trype Diana Aeroporter” or something to that effect, but we did not realize that it was OUR bus to the hotel. So after having it pass us 3 or 4 times, and making a phone call to the hotel we finally stopped the bus, and hopped on. The hotel was nice, the beds were hard, and the shower was extremely powerful. It about knocked me over when I turned the water on and stood under it this morning. Ron and I went to the pub, had a beer and then went to bed. Four hours later the phone rings and we head off to the airport to catch our flight to Frankfurt, and then off to PDX. And now I’m sitting here waiting for the flight. . . . *ding* *ding* *ding* My
flight is now boarding…. |
| 06/10/2003 - Last Day Of Work!! |
| 06/09/2003 - Roof 95% Done! |
We ran out
of roofing material today. We would have had the whole other side done
if we had enough bundles. It looks like we are around 6-7 bundles short.
You’ll notice the difference from the images posted on 06/07 to
the ones posted today. You’ll see that we roofed as much as we could,
but there is a strip by the ridge which needs to be roofed. |
| 06/05/2003 - Once Framers, Now Roofers! |
Today we
started roofing the house under the mindset that it would rain on us most
of the day. Although as the day continued it turned out to be more humid
than anything else. Under the cloud cover and the humid weather we finished
putting up the barge rafters with some minor but much needed finishing
touches to the barge rafters. After the finishing touches we started the
roofing process till it was time to go home.

| 06/01/2003 - A Day To Relax!! |
It’s
Sunday and we’ve decided to take a day off to relax, plus check
out some stone work (art) of a women that we meet at close to the jobsite. Questions, Comments, Concerns? Email me. |
| 05/28/2003 - Work Work Work!! |
Today we
got some of the rafters into the air, plus some other random stuff we
had to do. In the recent pictures of today you’ll see that there
is a big change from the last update 2 days ago. OHH, and I’ve been
taking pictures using Ron’s camera.
*Side Notes* Look at the bottom of the page on the right side. You'll notice that I've added the last time the site was updated in anyway. Usually it would be new pictures, or a new log entry. I'm gladly taking donations for a new camera! You can Paypal me money, or send me a check, and or cash which would be gladly accepted! That’s it for now…
Till next time… |
| 05/26/2003 – My Digital Camera STOLEN!!! |
| I’m extremely pissed off right
now, so this will be short.
This morning around 9am I went back up to the car to get my drink which was in the backseat. I got my drink and also put my digital camera in the glove box of our car so it was hidden yet not in my pocket where it was to get smashed while working. So from 9am or so, till 1:15pm when we went to lunch it could have been taken, or till the time we got back from lunch (2:15pm) and starting working again till 7:30pm when we stopped working. In those hours I was in the back of the house working on the deck with Phil, while Kevin and Ron was working on the 3rd floor. So from now, till I get home there will be few updates, and no pictures because I don’t have my digital camera anymore. I might be able to get some of the images from Ron’s camera, maybe not! ARGH!!!! If I find the person
that stole it I WILL break their legs off and beat them
with there own legs!!! |
| 05/24/2003 - Crane Help Today! |
Today we had
a little help from a crane which is being used to lift stuff for the neighboring
apartments that’s being built right next to us. We’ve got to
know one of the crane operators in the past week, so he said if we needed
anything moved around let him know. Today (Saturday) we run into him at
the jobsite as he is poking around the jobsite in awe of this wood structure
we have built over the past week. We get him to lift a bunch of really long
and heavy boards that we did not wish to carry 3 stories up. A picture below
is of him lifting up a 38 foot microlam board which is being used for the
3rd story.
We also got help from another crane that arrived at the jobsite around 4:00PM to help us move all the roofing, 50 sheets of drywall, 3 pallets of cement board, 20+ sheets of ¾” plywood, and about 60 sheets of ½” plywood to the 3rd story. It would have been a BIG pain to carry all those sheets of plywood, and the roofing for that distance. Thank you crane!!! While I was taking new pictures of the jobsite I noticed the clouds and the sun formed a cool shot, so I took a picture and this is what it looked like.

| 05/23/2003 – It’s Getting Hot Out Here! |
Kevin, Phil and I just got back from working another long day in the sun. Ron got the day off as he needed a day to heal, and rest from the previous inhospitable day’s we’ve had. Today we got the 2nd floor all done, plumbed and straight. Yesterday we got two of the main outside walls up. Today we got the rest of the outside walls up, plus all of the interior walls up. Tomorrow we start the 3rd floor, and get ready to start on the roof. Yay! The weather here has been really good. It’s been between 17-19°C (62°F-67°F) in the morning, to 25-35°C (77-95°F) in the afternoons just about every day. Once again I’m tired, and worn out but I keep going. My back is RED because I had my shirt off all day yesterday leaving my back burnt. If you’ve emailed me and not heard back then you must realize that I’m busy and I can’t check my email everyday. I should get back to everyone within a day, maybe two etc. |
| 05/19/2003 - Tired, Sore, Sleepy…. |
Well it’s
another night (10:00PM) after working all day in the hot sun. It’s
been really hot the past few days. The other day it was 35°C (95°F),
and today it was right around 100°F or so. |
| 05/16/2003 - My New Friend |
|
It turns out that we have two guards and
a dog to watch all of our lumber and the house. The first day the guard
dog did not want any of us by him, but not I'm able to basically wrestle
with him without any problems. His name is "J-e-k-e-i" Like Chucky, but
with a "J."

| 05/16/2003 - WHAT! Another Container? |
|
Another container came today *sigh* so we had to unload it because the container company needed it for some stupid reason. Yes we are not happy that we had 2 containers in 3 days. Upon unloading the container my pinkie finger meet the end of a 2x8 board and well the board won while my finger is all bruised and hurts a tad. I’m icing it now. As you can see I’ve added a link to a jobsite pictures page, and added jobsite pictures from day 01 of working till today. Questions? Ask! |
| 05/15/2003 – Working At Last!! |
|
Yesterday the container arrived at the jobsite around 12:30PM (05/15/2003). We got it all unloaded in about 5 hours with 6-7 people. Lots of heavy lumber plus lots of really long boards made it really tough and strenuous to get everything out of the container. Luckily we had a crane to pick up and move whole stacks lumber from one point to another. There should be some pictures of the container and crane soon. Today was day two and I’m exhausted yet again. The next few days will be a pain because it’s all the ground level work that needs to be perfect so the rest of the house will be straight and level with everything else. As a note the foundation was like and ocean; There was humps, and sinks all over the place. So today we had to get everything all level. What a BIG pain that was. We ate lunch at Los Angeles today around 1:30PM. Lunch was very good once again. After lunch we went back to work for another solid 7 hours. So today we did about a 12-13 hour day of hard labor. So much more work to do within the next few weeks. Yay! One of the things I’m
hoping to get out of working here is a good tan, and a toner body. Heck
I should accomplish both of those. I’m in the sun all day, plus
I’m lifting all kinds of lumber which is using muscles that I’m
not use to using sitting in my computer chair. :0) It’s Phil’s
Birthday today – Happy Birthday!!!! Yay!!! At any time if you have questions, comments,
or need to contact me please don’t hesitate to. It just may take
me a day or two to reply back depending on how late we work, and how much
I feel walking to the internet place. |
| 05/11/2003 – Happy Mothers Day!! |
| Happy Mothers Day Mom! :0)
Happy Mothers Day to the other moms out there that read this…. In other news… You’ve noticed I’ve redesigned the site. I was making a graphic for the site, and I got excited and redid the whole site. Not sure if I like it but I’ll stay with it for awhile. Hopefully tomorrow we start working. Tomorrow is when the container is expected to be at the jobsite, and when we can start unloading it. |
| 05/08/2003 – Voyage Into Morocco |
| I just got back from taking
a amazing journey into Morocco with my father, Alison and a gentlemen by
the name of Steve. Steve was our “tour guide” who is also from
Portland but been living in Melilla for about 19 years with his wife and
children. He had some business he needed to take care of in Morocco so he
said he would take us across the border and show us around. What I saw from the border of Melilla/Morocco was a realization to the reality of humanity. A process which humans were taking upon themselves to do whatever they can just to survive. Just 10-15 minutes away from the apartment smugglers are taking what they can get across the border (diapers, blankets, liquor etc) to make a profit so they can survive the hostile environment that they’ve become acclimatize to. Smugglers have to be sneaky yet thoughtful in the art of hiding the “merchandise” which they seek to get across the border. Smugglers can also bribe border patrol officers so that their “merchandise” will arrive across the border without any hassle and safely into the hands of their partner on the other side. This is only a tiny explanation which I can describe from my one experience as there are many other things that I could go on about. Contact me if you seek further information on this, or just have questions. From the border it was about a 40min drive to the city we were headed to (I forgot what it was called). One of the cities that we went thru was “Nador” which was the city at the border. This city was big (100k+ people). You’ll see a picture of a glass with some green leafs in it, this is was in Nado that I had my first taste of the Moroccan tea. The tea is a traditional everyday Moroccan tea which has a sweet “minty” taste to it. It’s one of those tastes that are hard to describe without actually tasting it yourself. In Nador there is a market called “The Melilla Market” because it’s composed of all the “merchandise” that was smuggled across the border. Now THIS is where you buy all your watches, clothes, electronics etc. Things here are CHEAP, plus you can deal with the vendors there. This is where Steve came in handy yet again because he speaks Spanish, some Arabic and then the local language called “Burbic” (I probably messed up the spelling). This market was just a cool place to look at all the cool things that have been smuggled across the border. It’s actually funny to look back and realize that all the “merchandise” which is in the market was smuggled across the border and I sat in the car and watched these people prepare themselves to smuggle it over. After Nador we traveled to another city (forgot name) and we sat down and ate lunch with one of Steve’s friends. We had some yellow bean stuff, various meats (beef, some liver, turkey etc.) on skewers and bread. The bread is your spoon, so you eat your whole meal using the bread as a spoon. Overall the meal was really good. You’ll see a picture of the cooks frying up some brain (well it looks like it) of some kind, and some other meat. A happy cook is a good cook. After some errands Steve had to make in town, we stopped to see a Moroccan family. We had some more wonderful Moroccan tea (no leafs in this glass this time) made by the wife of the family. We were shown the addition to the house that the father of the family has done, along with there goat which will be dinner. (Notice the name of the picture). It was a really good experience to be able to meet this family and have them pray with us in Burbic. After we visited with the Moroccan family we headed back across the border to “home” aka Melilla. Our home away from home. You’ll
see pictures which I have not talked about because there is just too much
to say. If you have questions about any of them just shoot me an email. |
| 05/06/2003 – Waahoo AC Power Adapter Found!!! |
| The goal for today was to
find an AC power adapter or converter for my laptop. Well after talking
to several owners of “electronic” stores Kevin and I ended up
at a place that had just the thing we were looking for. It’s a euro
AC power cord that plugs directly into the power adapter for my laptop and
then into the wall. Now I can plug my laptop directly into a power outlet
and not worry about Kevin's stink’in power converter.
In other news today; Tony and his wife came into town today (architect) to talk about business and about other houses here in Spain that are in the planning phase. We sat down to a nice dinner with them and had a good time. Well actually Phil cooked us spaghetti so we meet them at the restaurant just before they ate desert. So now that I have this new plug for my laptop we can now watch movies whenever we are bored. Today we watched “Minority Report” and started watching “Rounders” before we left to dinner with Tony and his wife. The updated news we got tonight was that the container should be here Monday; Yes it was suppose to be here Wednesday but it got delayed, next thing we were told was Friday yet again something happened. Now we are told that Monday is the day that we should get container #1. Hopefully the container will arrive then and we can start working. Ohh, and now Ron and my time here has been extended till June 12th. My father asked if we could stay longer since we’ve basically had a 2 week vacation. Plus the crew will need all the help they can get so that we can get the house completed A.S.A.P. It’s 12:45am and I’m off to bed. Goodnight to all…… |
| 05/05/2003 – Happy Birthday Andy!!! |
| Wanted to wish my brother a "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" He is 23 now. Happy birthday bro! |
| 05/03/2003 - Touring With Moha |
| I just got back from an evening
of touring around Melilla on MoHa's scooter. We went all around town doing
some errands he had to run for his uncle and just to show me around town
a bit. We ran into one of his cousins whom also knows english very well;
So I got to talk to his cousin for a bit while Moha was conversing with
his uncle in the store. While on one of the main streets cruising on the scooter I said something to Moha how there was lots of traffic, he replied with "No Problem" and quickly we were going in between cars which was a huge adrenaline rush. It was actually pretty fun, even though it was probably something my mother would approve. After our adventure we meet up with the others (neighbors) chatted for a bit, laughed a bit and just had some fun. Few moments later I brought down my laptop and we listened to music till about 11:30PM and then everyone went home. Overall the time spent with Moha's and the neighbors was a great end to a day which had little excitement. |
| 05/03/2003 – We Are So Bored |
| First I’m going to
talk about what we did yesterday since its only 10:00am right now.
Yesterday we did not do much at all, we ate lunch at one of your favorite places, “Cerversa Ria” which has some wonderful food(I think I’ve said this before). We did some more walking around town taking pictures and doing a little interaction with the locals. I took a long nap once again, while everybody else went walking around the harbor and old town. Last night we were suppose to eat dinner with “Dr Mariano” (last client in Melilla) but he was still not in town so we went to “La Muralla” without him. La Muralla is a restaurant which is in the old part of town inside the castle walls. Very cool place to go see, and eat at, plus the people there are very nice. There our images of us posing with the “staff” and owner of La Muralla. Today is Saturday and we got word last night that the shipping company screwed up so our container won’t be here till probably Wednesday. That’s good news and bad news. The good news is that we get to sight see a bit more and check out the city. Bad news is that we are really bored and all of us are tired of waiting for the container to arrive. This means that we will probably have to work a bit faster and harder because we have deadlines to meet, thus we will be working extremely hard and constant once the containers arrive. Till then we are trying to find new things to see and do. We think we might get someone to take us out fishing in a boat, and Kevin wants to rent a kayak so he can paddle around. We are so bored just sitting here walking around town. We are trying to find more things to do while we wait on the container. We have our “daily” chores which we get done. For the last few days some of our chores have been getting clothes pins, figuring out washer, getting things from store etc. We make a list of what we need to do, get and then we choose only one of those so we will have something to do the next day. We don’t want to get all of our shopping done on one day, or we wont have anything to do for the whole week. |
| 05/01/2003 – Drinking, Having A Beer |
| *NOTE* I've added a few new images in the day 2 table, plus I've added new images of today in a new table on the images page. Well today I got up at 7:30AM or so, and you’d think I would be doing something constructive. Well once again there is nothing to do because today is a holiday here in Spain. Just about every store, shop and internet café is closed. This morning Phil, Kevin, and I went walking around town. We headed to the harbor just to check things out.. I’ve posted new pictures of what I’ve taken this afternoon. After we came back to the apartment we all headed back to the job site to go see the progress of what was done, and well… They did more than we expected. The pictures “should” show some differences. So after we checked out the job site we decided to drive around. We ended up in the hills and then down at the coast of Melilla. We drove around to the base of a steep hill which the drive down was a narrow cut out rock road. At the bottom was a place to cliff jump into the Mediterranean Sea, fish and just relax in the sun. Pictures “should” show this. After our drive we headed back into town for lunch. We ended up at a place which was a block or two behind our apartment. We had mucho beers (Heineken) and had many assortments of different foods. From two kinds of fish, REALLY good shrimp, ham and cheese rolled in a batter, plus other good eats. Overall it was a GREAT lunch… After lunch Kevin and Phil headed back to the apartment, while Ron and I went to see if the net café was open. Of course it was not, so here I’em typing this…… Currently Ron, Phil, and Kevin headed out to the beach to relax in the sun while I’m staying in the apartment updating the site and to listening to music. Now I’m just waiting till 6:30pm so I can head down to the beach to shoot some hoops with the kids I met last night. To all that read…. Take care….we miss you! |
| 04/30/2003 – 05/01/2003 - Can You Say CONTACT!! |
| The following is basically
a short story as to me making contact with some of the local kids/teens.
It may seem like I’ve contacted aliens or something, but in retrospect
I have. It’s only been a few days and I think it’s good that
I’ve made contact with the locals trying to communicate with them.
Check out the cliff notes of the follwing here,
or read on.
I woke up at 5:30AM this morning not knowing if the container would be here, and if we would have our tools. We find out the status of our tools and the location of the container after the HUGE lunch with my dad, Alison and the rest of the crew today. The container was sent to the wrong city, so it looks like the soonest we will be able to work is MAYBE Friday, and probably Monday. May 1st is a holiday, so no one works then. The boneheads at the shipping place sent the container to the wrong city being dumb as they are and assuming that the location that it was sent to would be sufficient. It was not, and now we are bored, and tired of waiting. We came here to build a house, not screw around. So……We ate at a restaurant for lunch today, for what you would see as you enter would amaze you; A lobster the size of three normal ones that I would expect to see in America. It was a really cool sight to see. I had no idea what to eat, so I had my dad order for me. Five minutes later a good sized salad emerges in front of me with everything on it including anchovies, tomatoes, a wood like vegetable (I think), and lots of other good stuff. After the salad I get a huge steak which was wonderful, with green beans and artichokes. Next was a desert (forgot what it was called) but it was also very good. In the end we had this orange colored drink that had a taste like no other. It had a hint of a peppermint taste and something else that I can’t describe. After lunch myself and the rest of the crew (Kevin, Phil, Ron) went to go check on the tools and see if they made it ok. Of course everything was there. They are sitting at the last job that they did here. After checking on the tools we went back to the apartment. As usual I went to “my spot” (the porch overlooking the streets) to check things out and just observe. Quickly my eyes began to close, and I fell asleep for a few hours. When I woke up it was nightfall and there were people all over the streets. It still amazes me how many beautiful women there are here. Some may disagree, but just about everywhere I turn I can find a striking gorgeous woman. Yes, of course there are the ones that are…… not so pretty to look at, but I really don’t pay any attention those. I smile and move on…. After a good nap I wake up and start “people watching.” I’m starting to notice a group of girls, and a few boys settle in front down on the street. Quickly they get a ball and start kicking it around trying to get the other person to mess up.. etc. As curious as I’m, I start watching these girls play (not bad looking I might add, pretty cute) I poke my head out further to investigate as to what’s going on. As curious as they seem to be, they also start watching me to see what I’m doing. Of course I look back and smile. After a few moments of talking between themselves they have stopped playing with the ball and are directly talking to me. I’m like “what? English…. I’m American…” I then began to tell them I’m from America etc. They start asking me questions about music (one or two of them can barley speak English, but enough for me to understand what they are trying to convey.) They ask about music, and if I play football (our soccer) and I answer back. So here I’m thinking what I can do to break the ice. This is the first contact that I’ve really had with the locals without being pushed into one of their stores, or walking down the street. I say “un memento” and go downstairs with my laptop with the intention to play music for them. They start asking me if I have Eminem, Back Street Boys, and Britney Spears etc. Well I have Eminem, but not the other two. Of course the ladies were asking for Back Street Boys, and Britney Spears. I play them some music, and show them a snippet of a few movies that I have. Quickly I get a crowd of 10 or so people glaring at the laptop screen. I want to communicate with them so bad, but I don’t know Spanish to save my life. I know a few words to get by, but not enough. This really SUCKS!! So to make this shorter one of the older guys named “Moha” aka Mohammad invites me to play basketball with them at 6:30(after lunch everyday). To make sure I know where the court is, he takes me on a ride with his moped.. I think. I jump on his moped and we zip off around town between cars thru the city. He shows me the court which is on the beach. We then take off to our next stop which is at his girlfriends house (I think, he said something about how she was beautiful) so he can introduce me. She was not there, so we take off back to my apartment. On the way we run into his cousin (very cool guy) and he wants to know what music I listen to, and if I can make him a video CD. I say sure and we take off. Moha drops me off at the
apartment, and we say good-bye and he leaves… |
| 04/29/2003 - Good Morning!!! |
| Whoa, I slept pretty well.
All expect for when I woke up and heard Ron snoring loudly. (There, I changed
it Ron)
It’s currently 7:20AM and I can’t go back to sleep. Ron is still snoring and Phil is making coffee and Kevin is still sleeping. My dad is at a hotel not to far away with Allison. Power for my laptop and camera has been a slight concern. So far I’m using Kevin’s converter which plugs into the wall and then I plug whatever device into it and it works. It’s a huge heatseak really that just displaces the heat from converting the 250w to the 150w. Today I REALLY want to find a net café (we have seen a few) and would like to buy my own converter for my laptop and camera. So far Melilla is a really cool place with interesting people, cars, and buildings. I’m really enjoying myself in this city (town) with around 60,000 people. About 55% are Spanish, while the rest is Arabs. |
| 04/28/2003 - tranquilo (Take It Easy) |
| Just got back from a local
restaurant here in Melilla and I was sitting there drinking a beer kicking
back and relaxing. To my surprise there were TONS of people walking around,
driving etc. It was a pretty good day so I would expect to see lots of people
out.
While all of us sitting at the restaurant (My dad, Allison, Kevin, Phil, Ron, Me) we watched the waiter kick out and began to yell at a homeless guy that was begging the customers for money, food etc. It was actually something to giggle at. Heh. Check out my pictures which I took out of the balcony of my window and around town. I’ll take pictures of the apartment, and more of the surrounding later on. We got word that the people in the shipping yard on are strike (they do this a lot) so our container with all of your stuff is sitting at the shipping yard, while the foundation of the house is not “quite” done. So I guess we will get to sigh see a bit tomorrow. Time to sleep for me, I’m really tired, and had a long day of flying. |
| 04/28/2003 - AHH! No Wi Fi! |
| So it’s about 11pm
PST (not sure what Greenland time is) and we just flew over Greenland. I
had to get up and stretch a bit since I was sitting for several hours in
the middle row (35E –
See plan seating chart). So I headed to the back of the plane to get
some snacks and stretch for a bit.
While I was back there I chatted with a guy that worked for the airline and he said that the Wi Fi is not on this plane, however its currently only on the flight to and from Washington DC, but within a year or so It should be implemented it all the planes. That’s good to hear… And I thought I was going to get lucky! DOH!! While I’m at the back of the plane I decided to peak out the tiny window and with my surprise I saw SNOW!!!! Yes, I was looking at Greenland with my very own eyes, how cool is that! Forty-Five minutes later I’m back at my seat listening to some “Mest” and about to play a movie on my laptop. So far the plane ride has been ok. I don’t have much room but I’m managing. Everybody by me (to my left and right) is sleeping, so I don’t know if I should pass out (yeah right and miss the fun?) or just watch my movie…..CRAP, just looked and I only have 55% battery left. That might be just enough for a movie, and some time for me to work on the site. Well, not sure when I’ll be able to update the site but I’ll keep up with the log and update it as soon as I can. Take care to all that read. . . *Side note* Just changed the time zone
on my laptop to Greenland time, and its currently 4:12AM. |
| 04/27/2003 |
| It’s now 1:40PM PST,
and I just got done getting all my clothes and gear ready to put in my suit
case. It’s a bit sad to be packing even though I’ll be having
lots of fun, but my friends and family will be left behind. I wish I could
take a few of my friends with me but unfortunately I can’t.
I’m ready as I’ll ever be so I should really get some sleep. I’m just thinking that the next place I’ll lay my head after tonight is on a pillow in Spain, an unknown location to me. This will be interesting . . . yet fun! Alex, signing off till next time I get a chance to update. . . |
| 04/25/2003 |
| Today is one of those days
I'm kicking back and trying to relax. Working on this site, doing wash,
and messing with my laptop. I Don't have kismet working yet, but hopefully I can get that working before I leave. One of my biggest concerns is getting a net connection, so hopefully I can find something (an AP) or a net café within the first day or so. |
