DailyRadar.com Has published an article on understanding 3d cards. It explains many concepts like FSAA, mipmapping, and many other commonly used, but often not understood, video card terms.

 It seems that every other week, a new video card is introduced that is the "be all, end all" of every card that came before it. They make all sorts of amazing claims for speed, image quality and the like. But what is it we really want? How do we decipher those confusing specifications on the package? Why are new cards introduced so often anyway? Let's get to the bottom of this once and for all. 

This article was very informative in my opinion.  It explained many
concepts that may not be familiar to the average person in the market for a
video card.
