Sony has just announced their new Double Density CD-R and CD-RW disks that can hold up to 1.3 GB of data. They acomplish this by essentially shrinking the space between the tracks on the media. Good news, but the prices are way too high to compete with the current CD platform. The drives will be available in retail stores by the beginning of April and will cost $249. DD-R discs will cost $1.99 each, and DD-RW discs will cost $2.99.
