Microsoft has announced that an unknown person managed to trick VeriSign into issuing him two digital certificates, which could be used to spread viruses or tojan horses. "The certificates could be used to sign programs, ActiveX controls, Office macros, and other executable content," MS said in a bulletin. "ActiveX controls and Office macros would pose the greatest risk." "We screwed up in issuing the certificate," VeriSign admits. When downloading programs from MS, users should click the "Microsoft Corporation" hyperlink in the security dialog box. If the "Valid from" dates read Jan. 29 or Jan. 30, 2001, it is false. read more about it here
