It appears that German publisher CDV is selling gaming mods found on the web for profit. Some examples are mods from Half-Life, Quake 3, and now even Rogue Spear! You can see "Sixbow Levels", their product name for the collection of Rogue Spear mods, here. Hopefully none of yalls work is being sold without you knowing about it.

Okay... Now that's just sick. If they didn't request permission to use the mods, then I say boycott. Besides, those people who made those mods worked hard to bring them to us for free, if that company is selling it, shouldn't the profits from those mods go to the mod makers? ------------------

holy crap... have they got permission from redstorm? if not, and if they dont need it, i feel mod makers in our community should be packaging and selling theyre own mods!! obviously not the little maps and weps mods etc, but if someone comes up with a nice Total Conversion, then why not? ide buy it. Also, cash is a surefire way to keep excellent modders at it. otherwise patience is bound to run out soon! ------------------

Aim, they did not get permission from Red Storm. What this German company is doing is totally illegal and I imagine Ubi Soft's legal department is looking into this as we speak. ------------------

damn!! thats ridiculous. I heard that they arn't doing anything illegal by selling this add on (obviously they are by stealing peoples work) because the write "un-official" on it ------------------

Aim, read the legal agreement that you "ok" when you install the game. Pretty much it boils down to that it is illegal for *anyone* to profit from the game (like selling mods - official or unoffical) except for Red Storm, as they are creators of the game. ------------------

ahh!! i see. but theoretically, they could argue something silly like: we are giving the content away free, but charging for post and packing. ------------------

Is there any way to see the list of maps that are included? Eh, I sleep soundly with the knowledge that my mods are too crappy to charge money for... heheh... ------------------

hi First, sorry about my bad english. CDV is selling SixBow Levels since 2000 or earlier! But I think there is a new Version out now. I first saw SixBow Levels in April or May 2000! at my shop (but i didn´t buy it). ------------------ THX
