Vantec CCK-6035D Review! (Post a comment)
[sniper, August 11, 2001 @ 11:07 PM CST]
Dreddnews has posted a review of the Vantec CCK-6035D Copper CPU Cooler. Here is a snippet from it:
"This may not be the "best" cooler on the market right now, but you have to sell a limb in order to get the "best". Considering the cost of this piece compared to its performance, and comparing it to the other HSFs available now, it really is right up there with the best. It does a high-level job at pretty low-level costs. It is extremely overclocker friendly, and very easy for even a novice to install with its pleasing hinged clip."

EA's Medal of Honor: Allied Assault! (Post a comment)
[sniper, August 10, 2001 @ 05:16 AM CST]
I just watched one of the most exciting, thrilling, and intense games that is soon to be released later on in the following months. There has not been much talk about the release date of the game, but it is rumored that the release date may be around October 2001, or even mid to late February 2002. Electronic Arts Medal of Honor: Allied Assault was first introduced at this year's 2001 E3. The first impressions by the games anticipators at this years 2001 E3 expo where of a mind-blowing proportions because the game was so real and intense. This is because the game exceeded many people’s expectations and was like anything they have seen.

As far as review’s goes for this game, GameSpy has a very good in-depth review of Medal of Honor: Allied Assault which can be found here.

I suggest you download and watch all of the videos as you can, because you will be impressed with this game from the start. For the official site go here and to download the videos go here.

I'll see if I can get all 5 videos on our server including the offical trailer. Check Back for updates.

New Patent Lawsuit Against Intel! (Post a comment)
[sniper, August 01, 2001 @ 12:27 AM CST]
I noticed while I was at ZDnet.com that a workstation manufacturer "Intergraph" has filed a new patent lawsuit against Intel. Here is a snippet from the story:
"Itanium, based on the IA-64 platform developed by Intel and Hewlett-Packard, officially launched earlier this year after delays and testing. It uses the EPIC (explicitly parallel instruction computing) instruction set, which the lawsuit claims conflicts with 1993 Intergraph patents relating to instruction routing and parallelism. ."

GideonTech.com has reviewed the Vantec CCK-6035D Copper Cooler. Here is snippet from the results:
"I would think this unit can take over the top spot if the copper coils were larger. The unit is not at all large, it'll fit on any motherboard from what I gather. The aluminum covering helps direct the air flow, kind of like how the Alpha heatsinks did it way back.
."

Need A Shock? (Post a comment)
[sniper, July 25, 2001 @ 11:08 PM CST]
Have you ever bought a joystick, or controler that emits shock, or some type of injury to you while playing a game if your charcter gets damage? Well one person took it a little far and hooked himslef up so he can get even more shock out of the joystick. Here is the destription under the picture from yahoo news:
"ADVANCE FOR MONDAY JULY 30--A video game controler which shocks the user if his character suffers damage on the screen is shown in this undated handout photo. The must-have gift for video game fanatics this Christmas could well be a gadget that momentarily paralyzes your hands when your character takes a hit in cyberspace. Mad Catz, the company devising "Bioforce," thinks it has a winner, and some people who tried it at a video game convention think it's great. (AP Photo/Mad Catz)"

Highly personalized and naturally paced, Majestic tailors the experience specifically for each player as it dynamically changes the content of web pages, e-mails, faxes, voicemails and chat conversations in order to immerse the player at the very heart of a developing story. Majestic players assume the leading role in their own adventure, interacting with other characters, uncovering clues, searching for answers, collecting and using digital objects and resolving challenges to progress through the experience. Unlike other forms of entertainment, Majestic actively pursues and interacts with the user based on events developing within the fiction, creating a uniquely suspenseful entertainment experience.

Russian Adobe Hacker Busted! (Post a comment)
[sniper, July 17, 2001 @ 07:30 PM CST]
FBI agents have arrested a Russian programmer for giving away software that removes the restrictions on encrypted Adobe Acrobat files.

Dmitry Sklyarov, a lead programmer for Russian software company ElcomSoft, was visiting the United States for the annual Defcon hacker convention, where he gave a talk on the often-flawed security of e-books.

This would be the second known prosecution under the criminal sections of the controversial Digital Millennium Copyright Act, (DMCA) which took effect last year and makes it a crime to "manufacture" products that circumvent copy protection safeguards. Check out the full story here.

The South Korean government has canceled plans to open their marketplace to videogame consoles such as the Dreamcast and PlayStation 2 following Japan's refusal to revise controversial history textbooks. The game is played with two teams, the Special Forces (good guys) and the Terrorists (bad guys). To complete a round, either team must finish the objectives which they have been given. Each round has a time limit of about 4 minutes, but can be finished earlier if the objectives are completed. Once you die in a round, you are dead for its remainder and you go into spectator mode; there is no automatic respawning in Tactical Ops.

Emperor: Battle For Dune Review! (Post a comment)
[sniper, June 25, 2001 @ 05:32 PM CST]
the Guru of 3D has posted a 5 page review of Emperor: Battle For Dune. Here is a snippet from it:
"Emperor:Battle for Dune continues Westwood's tradition for excellent and enjoyable real time strategy games. Equipped with a rich storyline, massively improved graphics, and solid elements of unit options and game balance, this game certainly delivers the right goods at the right places. Gamers bored or tired with the Westwood's approach need not apply for this game; for it is does not really explore and take advantage of any new game concepts. But while it's certainly not a groundbreaking title, the vast majority of RTS genre veterans will enjoy it thoroughly and toss any minor gripes out the window, all of which are quickly forgotten in the hectic breathtaking battlefield."
