Decisions, decisions
With the 3dfx Voodoo5 5500 due out in just days, NVidia and 3dfx are about to go head to head once again -- fighting over your loyalty. In one hand you have the raw power and
speed of the geForce2 waiting to break loose. In the other, the eye candy of 3dfx's full
scene anti-aliasing. In my opinion, after you cut through the initial "ooh-ahh" of
pretty graphics, you get back down to the basics, Frames Per Second. For hardcore Quake3 gamers such as myself, anything below 60fps simply starts to affect your game. All
the FSAA in the world isn't going to stop that rocket from coming at you.
On the other hand, FSAA does indeed help to immerse the player into the game. Jagged 'aliased' edges, or "jaggies" as they're referred to tend to be a constant reminder to players that
they're in a virtual world. After checking out the Rogue Spear screen shots from our 3dfx Voodoo5 5500 review,
there's no question in my mind that FSAA enhances the entire gaming experience.
