Conclusion
Currently Touchsense support in games is very limited. Being such
a new technology I hope to see it becoming more widely available for
games just like Force-Feedback support. I think it would especially
prove to be useful in online action games like Counterstrike where
a variety of weaponry is used. It would add a whole new dimension
to the game.
Until more games and website support becomes available, I think
that the majority of the market for this item will be for use in
jobs. While your sitting at work doing your everyday boring activities
on the computer, the iFeel Mouse might be a nice change.
For regular home use it could also be considered. I believe what
Logitech would like you to achieve from this mouse is what I call
a "familiarity feel" for certain tasks. For example, just
as when you were first given a mouse, you would often overshoot
the icons. You later learned how far you needed to move your mouse
to hit the icon based on practice and familiarity. The same could
also be true for the iFeel Mouse. Overtime you may learn the feel
of certain tasks making it easier. Personally, after using it over
two weeks it didn't really help me at all, it was just something
different.
Putting the "feeling" portion of the mouse aside, the
optical aspect of the mouse was great compared to some optical mice.
One thing that I found about optical mice is that the surface of
your mouse pad is everything. For example, I had one mouse pad that
had a shiny surface; but if you looked at it closely, the surface
was spotted and shinier at points. This made the mouse not glide
as smoothly as on other surfaces.
If your looking at getting an optical mouse, I would highly recommend
that you stop on by and pick up a Ratpadz.
They work great with optical mice.
Bottom line is you might consider waiting to see how popular Touchsense
becomes on the Internet and games before purchasing this product.
But at only $10 more for Touchsense capability, you can't go wrong.
If you purchase it and don't like the Touchsense capability, just
disable it, because as a plain optical mouse it ROCKS!!!
