The Card
Taking a quick look at the card, it seems pretty plain jane. Its pretty
much a PCI card with four SDRAM risers on it, and a controller chip.
The card comes in several configurations, the two main options are
buying the card with the memory pre-installed, or buying it without
the memory. The card that was sent to me had the memory already installed.
If you buy the card without the memory, it is considerably cheaper.
But the bios is set so you can only put in the amount of memory that
was specified by the card. So If I purchased the 2Gig empty card.
My only option is to put in 4 sticks of 512 pc133 memory. If I wanted
to upgrade my card to 4gig. I would have to pay for an upgrade, and
then replace all the sticks of memory with 1024Meg sticks.
