Overview
You play Jake Logan, a pilot for hire currently working for Advanced Ganymede Technologies, one of many corporations battling for control of the galaxy's
wealth and resources.
The game starts with your returning from a vacation on Mars, your home world. As with any pilot for hire, you immediately access the Jobs terminal looking
for your next contract. You are presented with five choices. The first three are disguised training exercises designed to prepare you for the rigors of
life as pilot in the 26th century. They also serve to give you some operating cash for outfitting your ships.
Once you've familiarized yourself with these missions and begin to take other, more lucrative jobs, you quickly find out how dangerous it is being a pilot
for hire when you're framed for the mass destruction of a civilian space station under medical quarantine.
AGT, your employer drops you like a hot nova and you are sentenced to banishment from Sol. "You are hear by sentenced..." echoes in your mind as you find
yourself exiled to the Fringe.
Humanity has spread far out into the void by the 26th century. The Fringe has spread farther. The only law in the Fringe is survival. The only choices:
Which do you guard more, your back or your credits?
Once you've been banished, you land at The Hub, your base of operations in the Fringe. Here, your only concern is the next job. Once again, training
missions can give you some badly needed credits for weapons and upgrades to your ship.
While flying these missions you learn that there are two major corporations fighting for control in the Fringe, Galspan and Bora. The major storyline comes
into play here, when you must decide which you will fly for. Choose wisely; this will determine which campaign missions you will undertake throughout the
game and perhaps swing the balance of power in the Fringe. That is, if you're good enough.
