Introduction:

Founded in 1975 by Paul Allen and Bill Gates, Microsoft has become one of the largest companies in the world for developing software, PC games, operating systems, and hardware devices.

Microsoft first introduced its IntelliMouse Optical in the fall of 1999 with the IntelliMouse Explore. Now Microsoft has released its new IntelliEye Technology along with the new IntelliEye Wireless Explorer. Microsoft's new Wireless IntelliMouse Explorer is not like any of the other mice that you have ever used.

Here are some quick facts about the Wireless IntelliMouse Explorer:

  • New Improved IntelliMouse Technology

  • 5 Programmable Buttons
  • Accelerated Scrolling
  • Two Channel Options
  • Captures 6,000(dpi) pictures per Second

    I will be discussing these new technologies and improvements throughout the review. Now let's get a better understanding of what the Wireless IntelliMouse Explorer looks like up close. The Wireless IntelliMouse Explorer requires some minimal system requirements for both PC and MAC.

    Included in Package:

  • Two AA alkaline batteries are required (included).
  • IntelliPoint Software and Help files.

    System Requirements:
    Windows-based PC: To use Microsoft Wireless IntelliMouse Explorer with the scroll wheel and all customizable buttons, you need:

  • IntelliPoint software (included)
  • Windows 98, WinMe, Windows 2000, or Windows XP Home Edition or Professional.
  • 25 MB of available hard-disk space
  • CD-ROM drive
  • An available Universal Serial Bus (USB) port on your PC
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.01 with Service Pack 2 or later.
  • 66 MHz or higher processor, 45 MB of additional hard-disk space, and 16 MB of RAM on Windows 98)

    Macintosh-based PC: To use Microsoft Wireless IntelliMouse Explorer with the scroll wheel and all customizable buttons, you need:

  • IntelliPoint software for the Macintosh (included)
  • Mac OS 8.6 or 9.x (excluding OS X or later)
  • 15 MB of available hard-disk space
  • CD-ROM drive
