Playing the game

Navigation inside the game is a snap. My 8 year old son was able to set up an identity and pick an opponent without any help. When setting up an identity the game assist you in determining your current ranking by asking questions about age and how much you have played chess in the past. It appears that I'm about a 1300.

There are about 150 opponents all ready created. You can make more or adjust the ones that exist easily. The existing players range from a monkey (Seriously. rank - 1) to the Chessmaster(rank - 2800), and all ages and ranks in between. The default setup of  games is to play Fischer Style where each player has a set amout of time to play. You set the game time anywhere from 1 minuite to infinity.

 I selected a guy named "Seth". At a ranking of 750 it seemed like an easy match. Well, it turned out that I could only beat him every other time.After playing a few games, and even selecting easier opponents, I decided that rank is really somewhere around 1000. I'm an optomist. It looks like I need a little help with my chess game. Lucky for me Chessmaster 9000 comes complete with a classroom. Looks like I need to go to school.
