Revving
Up (Features):
Some
of the features in MCM2 are totally awesome (the ability to replay your race is
my favorite.). Well, lets start at the beginning. One of the first noticeable
features is the new graphical user interface (GUI). The interface is very easy
to navigate, looks 3d, and is animated. There are 6 types of events you can
compete in and they are: Baja, Stunt Quarry, Enduro, Nationals, Supercross, and
Pro-Circuit. There are about 40 different tracks you can race on. The track
variety is definitely one of MCM2’s strong points. The game ships with 23
unique bikes ranging from the Kawasaki 125 to the Honda XR600R. The amount of
bikes you can have is virtually infinite because you can make your own bikes.
All you need is a photo editor and you can easily add your name to your bike or
give it a custom paint scheme. You can even choose one of the many riders that
come with the game or customize your own rider. Of course you can share your
bike and rider skins with your friends.
Takeoff
(Gameplay):
Ahhhh,
at last we are taking off into the air… MCM2’s gameplay is very fun and can
be very frustrating. Here I will give you an overview of the gameplay types. In
most of the races you have three options to choose from: Practice, Single Event,
and Tournament. Practice allows you to run on the tracks without a number of
laps or a set time limit. Single event allows you to choose the number of laps
or a time limit. Tournament allows you to choose how many events you wish to
participate in along with the lap or time limit. Lets start off with my favorite
type of gameplay, Stunt Quarry. Stunt Quarry is jam packed with death defying
stunts and jumps that will leave you soaring with the birds. You have to cram
all of your stunts into an allotted time, and if you get the most points you are
the winner. Points are received when you do a stunt and land it. You can receive
more points by holding your stunt in the air longer or doing multiple stunts in
a jump. No points are taken away from you if you crash. Lets move onto
Nationals… National racing is a track in the outdoors that has nice jumps and
a drawn out path. You must complete the allotted number of laps before anyone
else. After you complete the race you will be shown a list of the racers and
their best lap times. In most of the races you have three options to choose
from. Supercross
or SX is basically a small indoor course with bumpy tracks. You can pick the
number of laps you wish to do and finish first to win. As with nationals your
best lap time is shown at the end of the race. Baja is an outdoor race with no
shown path. You can select the number of laps and the number of gates you must
pass through. You must pass through each gate in order. As with SX and Nationals
the person who completes all the laps first wins. Enduro is very similar to Baja
except you compete in more populated areas like a trailer park or an ancient
city. Pro-Circuit is a very cool type of gameplay, allowing you to race on the
circuit and win money! When you race and win, you get money to pay for things
like medical bills, repair costs, and new bikes. Each of these types of gameplay
has variable levels of difficulty and are extremely fun.
