Gameplay
As stated by the developers, this is a tactical simulation game and not a strategic action game. In your role as the element
leader, you are given total control of your squad in real time as the action unfolds instead of designing your whole battle
plan in a mission planning stage ala Rainbow Six. S3 truly simulates what it would be like to be a real member of a SWAT
team. One of the key features of S3 is the interactive reticule that you can use for everything. The ability to point at
a door and tell your red team to "breach, bang, and clear" is so awesome. It becomes second nature as you keep playing
the game and soon you will be making great use of your two teams for some very realistic hostage rescuing.
You have a whole slew of very flexible commands to give your teammates. Similar to old adventure games, when your reticule is over
something that you can interact with, it lights up. You can point at a door, and open it or you can point at a down team
member and report that an officer is down. With only 16 single-player missions and no multiplayer, one would think that the
replay value on this game is not that good. That can't be farther from the truth. With the complete randomness of tangos each
mission and the multiple insertion points, you will find yourself playing your favorite missions over and over.
