Sound
The sounds found in Swat 3 are definitely a mixed bag. The sheer amount of sounds you will hear while playing S3 create a very
engrossing environment that give the feel of actually being at the scene. You hear constant feedback from your teammates reporting
their status as well as their responses to your orders. You can also hear feedback from command reporting on the situation as a
whole. When you encounter civilians, you can you hear them mumbling various things and the terrorists get pretty disgusted when
you cuff them. The weapons sounds are simply unrewarding in my opinion. The weapons don't seem to roar to life as with a real
automatic weapon but they simply sound like "pops" of a firecracker. I think some more bass added to the sounds would come
across more powerful. Flashbangs and frags aren't very intimidating either.
A Premonition of the Future
One of the biggest down falls of Swat 3 is its lack of multiplayer support. Ask anyone what they think about this title and they
will most likely mention its lack of multiplayer gaming. This information is not falling on deaf ears though and Sierra is
responding. In reply, Sierra is offering Swat 3: Battle Plan. This is a free expansion pack to current owners of Swat 3 but will
have to be purchased by newcomers to the game. The pack includes six new missions which are located in a Private Residence,
Chang's Chinese Theater, L.A. Metro, City of Angels Hospital, AMC Building in Century City, and the Whitman Airport. The update
will include the ability to play co-op or adversarial in any of these new missions and the existing S3 maps. Also, a new gameplay
type will allow you to play as the terrorists and communicate among your "gang". Lastly, no less than 14 new weapons will be
included in this expansion. As a bonus, the Worldcraft level editor and skins editor will be released to allow for complete
customization of the game.
