Since the Kenwood LZ-700W with built-in TV-tuner did not work out,
I needed to find a good replacement solution so that I could watch
TV. I decided to go with a Hauppauge Win-TV USB solution.

The CarPC would not be a car pc if it didn’t interface with
the car’s built-in computer. In order to accomplish this feat,
I contacted AutoTap about their OBD-II scanner system. Provided
with their kit is a cable that connects to the cars OBD-II connector.
Through this connection I can get real-time data and diagnose problems.
The software is freely downloadable at http://www.autotap.com/WindowsSoftware2.html,
where you can feel free to take it for a test drive. It features
a built-in script that can be loaded so that you can simulate how
the software would work even though you haven’t purchased
the hardware. The setup of the software interface reminds me of
that of Windows System Monitor. It features various counters that
can be added to a chart, graph or gauge to be monitored. It also
features logging abilities as well as log playback. I think that
this software solution will provide me with everything I need to
monitor my car's performance.
